History

Although born in 2020, the history of Daniel Alan Tax Service starts in 2007. This is the year that Danny Akers, with 37 years of tax and accounting experience, started Akers Tax Service. For 13 years Danny built his company by working alongside his clients to help them in any way he could. He knew the industry, but he loved the opportunity to help his neighbors save money and headaches.

This brings us to 2020 when Danny’s business had grown beyond his dreams. Knowing that he needed some more help, Danny enlisted his son, Brian Akers, and grandson, Noah Akers, to help him out. Brian and Noah are the founders, and co-owners of Daniel Alan Tax. They brought fresh technology and added 3 new tax preparers to help serve all the clients Danny had accumulated over the years. Danny has since retired as a tax preparer, but his spirit lives on in the company. Here at Daniel Alan Tax, we aim to make your tax and accounting problems go away with as little stress as possible. We are willing to help wherever and however we can. Our team is experienced, professional, and ready for whatever you can throw our way.

Josh began his career as a truck driver for 14 years. During this time, he also worked as an accountant for Premier Designs and an income tax preparer for 8 years. He was hired as a client account specialist at Akers Financial Group for 3 years and at Akers Tax Service, where he was a tax preparer for 8 years. Josh obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Western Governors University and is an enrolled agent. Josh and his wife Lindsay reside in Delta, PA with their daughters. Josh’s family goes to Trappe Baptist Church in Street.

In May 2014, Kaitlin obtained her AA in Music and her AA in Business Administration as well as her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Towson. She has been with Akers Financial for the past 10 years, and this will be her third year working alongside Daniel Alan Tax. Kaitlin also has one year of experience at Service Master as Office Manager Accountant. Kaitlin, her husband and daughter reside in Harford County. They volunteer at Beachmont Christian Camp and enjoy working with children. They attend Sovereign Grace Church in Abingdon.

Noah and his father, Brian Akers, are new part owners of Daniel Alan LLC. Noah is licensed in life, health, and accident insurance. He recently graduated magma cum laude from Cairn University with his M.B.A., Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a minor in Bible. During his time at Cairn he played on the Cairn Men’s soccer team as well as the golf team. Including during college and after graduation, Noah has 7 years of work experience at Akers Financial Group. Noah was married in November 2023, and he and his wife, Julia, attend Reformation Bible Church in Darlington.

Brian A. Akers, CFP®, President and Founder of Akers Financial Group as well as part owner of Daniel Alan LLC, has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Brian has lectured throughout Maryland and Southern Pennsylvania, hosts his own radio show, “Winning in Retirement”, on CBS radio, has co-hosted radio shows, and appeared as a guest expert on Fox 45 and WUSA Channel 9 News. Brian has a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Virginia Tech, holds licenses for life, health, property, and casualty insurance, series 7 and 65 is a FINRA General Securities Representative and an Investment Advisors Representative. Brian is a Harford Christian Educational Foundation board member and a Deacon at North Harford Baptist Church. He is a former Trustee of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He enjoys coaching high school, AAU, and recreation basketball teams.
